Kokoro Wellness started from the idea that therapy has the potential to be more effective when it goes beyond just talk therapy and utilizes evidence-based practices that research has found to be effective in counteracting negative moods. For example, exercise has been found to be 1.5 times more effective at reducing mild-to-moderate symptoms of depression, psychological stress, and anxiety than psychotropic medication (Noetel et al., 2004). We believe that people should be able to benefit from the psychotherapeutic benefits of these interventions as a first-line defense for treating these psychological conditions before resorting to psychotropic medication and in many cases, we can offer these interventions to the client in conjunction with talk therapy.​
